Panic and anxiety seems to be frequent for me when it comes to giant adventures. It happened right before SDCC 2013 when I was struggling with putting together my Stuttgart staff. I wanted to avoid such a thing this year, but it didn't happen. It was such a pain trying to figure out what I wanted to do this year for Comic Con. My initial plan had been to go as a Program from Tron: Legacy, as I am a huge Tron fan and such a thing would have been right up my alley. The lights for such a costume were even severely discounted on ebay. But due to other outstanding circumstances, I had to shelve it for the time being. I'm fairly certain I'll come back to it eventually.
The obvious thing I knew I was doing was returning as Stuttgart Loki at least one day during the Con. Honestly, there's nothing like walking around and yelling at people to kneel before you. Everyone should try it sometime. But I wanted to do something else, something new. I went surfing the internet a few weeks ago, looking at cosplayers, daydreaming about loads of funds to do things that would look stunning and sleek. Then I came upon one of my pictures from the Sacramento Wizard World Con back in March, of me as Jack Frost standing next to Ororo Munroe, aka Storm. She was my first favorite super hero, right alongside Spiderman. TA DAA! With that, I knew exactly what I wanted to do.
I couldn't have chosen a more lousy time to get started on a costume. Never again shall I wait until after the 4th of July to start working on an outfit. Thankfully, I have a white wig long enough to work for Storm's hair. I'm modifying some athletic wear with gold trim to pull off a shirt, and the cape just needs to be cut out and pinched together. Thankfully, I'm nearly done, but it's been a hard lesson in procrastination for me.
If anyone else is going to San Diego Comic Con 2014, I wanna hear about it! Leave a comment below, tell me who you're going as if you are cosplaying, and I'll look forward to seeing you there!
